BO’NESS went into today with a few personnel adjustments from last week, United was first on the gas but never creating any near chances as it gradually got back to an even spell in the match.
A bad head injury obtained by Iain Syme but he managed to continue after a cleanup.
The home side was beginning to show the upper hand and took the lead through what was nothing strange in the world of football of late when a cross ball hit the post and crawled over the BU line giving Penicuik the lead and no VAR on this occasion to help out.
Penicuik 1 Bo’ness 0
The Cuikie side were soon two up when another BU calamity followed with no takers in the visiting defence suddenly were making life difficult for themselves as the ball ended up in the back of the net.
Penicuik 2 Bo’ness 0
With half time approaching the BU were awarded a free kick and looking to get something back before half time and although Brian Morgan managed to find the net it was short-lived with the flag up for offside although the offence couldn’t be pointed at the scorer.
Half-time Penicuik 2 Bo’ness 0
Shortly after the restart, Bo’ness got that injection they were looking for when Morgan again scored but this time it stood and like the first half no VAR to decide if it crossed the line but the BU were not arguing with the ref this time.
Penicuik 2 Bo’ness 1
Bo’ness had that sight now of an equaliser and pressed on the home goal again a breakout took place and with an unchallenged penalty claim after a foul committed by the unfortunate Terry Hewitt were now back to square one as the Penicuik side saw daylight as a penalty gave them back the two goal lead.
Penicuik 3 Bo’ness 1
Ten minutes remaining and the unfolding BU were back in it, this time via a wild deflection from Morgan sent the BU faithful into another nervy outcome.
Penicuik 3 Bo’ness 2
As the visitors pressed for the added time equalizer it was the home side who should have settled the match and a great missed opportunity. United who broke quickly found the well-deserved goal when the home keeper flapped at the cross and it landed for Fraser Keast to earn a point at a tricky Penicuik.
As the ball was centred and the fans hitting the exit on played the home side and the visiting players trying to scamble back into position and almost cost the points but for a great save from BU Andy Murphy.
