Football Nations Qualifying Cup 3rd Round
TRANENT 2 BO’NESS UNITED 1
Bo’ness started quickly today and had Tranent on the back foot right away but what was lacking was a centre to finish off these balls. This could come back to haunt them during the rest of the season.
With just over thirty minutes on the clock it was Tranent who struck the killer punch when Kanyo finished a good through ball. The BU didn’t give in and a couple of half chances to equalise came to nothing and ended HT Tranent 1 Bo’ness 0
United opened up the second half just like they started the first and it didn’t take long and the equaliser the BU were looking for was on the cards when the ref pointed to the spot but the penalty came crashing off the post.
Things were bad for the Home side as they were reduced to ten men.and it didn’t take long for Michael Gemmell to find the cute ball in to Marty Wright who calmly put it to bed.
The home side were back in action at the other end and starting to make the BU defence work, but for what really couldn’t be seen as the ref pointed to the spot and a penalty for Tranent which was concerted and put the Forester Park men back in front.
Bo’ness once again started to attack the home goal and were starting to drain down the home goal as they getting deeper in defence and keeping the visitors frustrated at not scoring. As the quick break from Tranent was stopped in its tracks when Ross Campbell picked up his second yellow and a quick shower needed.
Although having lost Campbell it didn’t change the way the match was played and the United looking for extra time which wasn’t coming and the ref blew for full time. Another day and a forward could have seen the BU win but in hindsight we were always struggling to finish balls off.
Tranent now head into the quarter final and all the best to them on the cup quest
