East of Scotland Conference B League

This was a cracking day for it if you were wrapped up and the thermals having been pulled from the bottom drawer. The pen you could hardly hold but the tea helped.

It didn’t take long for the match to come to life when Ross Campbell was adjust to have deliberately used an elbow and was sent packing.  It didn’t take long for the Bluebell to take the lead and just over the half hour the Fifers went in front.

With Bo’ness having a reshuffle in defence this may have led to the Dundonald goal;

Half time fast approaching Stevie Kerrigan wanted his side off so they could change the format to try and get back in to it.  Although showing the better side of the two the BU got an equaliser and it came via the penalty spot. Allan MacKenzie was bundled in the box and up stepped Marty Wright to make 1-1 at half time.  But as a result of mouthing at the ref which you see every other week the ref sent him off the touchline which looked kind of embarrassing from the ref.

Half Time
Dundonald 1 Bo’ness 1

It didn’t take long for the home side to make the extra man count and against the run of play went 2-1 up
And before you knew it Wright conjured up some magic as he made it 2-2 and his second of the match.
Bo’ness were now looking like taking the points from this fixture

Into the 2nd half and the visitors found themselves behind again as Dundonald went 2-1 in front. 17 minutes into the half though it was all square again as Wright produced a sweet shot past the home keeper.
With the visitors still looking the better of the two sides with a few great chances created but the man in the middle is not even on the books at Newtown and it shows at times a centre would take half these chances!
United knew it was going to be one of those days when Will Snowdon was giving his marching orders after conceding a foul which was no more a penalty than fly in the air, but Alex Marshall in goal saved the spot kick.
Entering the final ten minutes the nine man BU would dig in and park the bus, but not finished as the match swung from end to end  and with the ball in the home area Wright found himself a free header which saw the Bluebell keeper level with BU goalie having to scoop the ball out the onion bag for the third time.

At times you wondered who had two players missing, but the BU gaffer will not be happy not getting three points but at the same time happy with the draw.  The players worked hard for each other and kept the professional head on and put the midweek news behind them.

BU Chairman Iain Muirhead says he will look at his own position after the weekend taking his part of the blame in the blunder, Earlier in the season he tendered his resignation but the committee refused to take it but this latest shambles might be enough is enough. The secretary who himself must take his side of the blunder and weigh up his position at the club.  The lost revenue and prize money which could have been made.
