CROSSGATES PRIMROSE 1 BO’NESS UNITED 2
Alex Jack Cup 2nd round
Humbug Park, Crossgates
After the last two weeks this turned in to yet another slugfest against a team that showed how to defend against a lacklustre forward line.
Bo’ness had the most of the play but could do basically nothing in front of goal with chances that on another day it could have been over by half time
Tackles were starting to get slightly nippy and the ref was letting it go for now but eventually he decided enough was enough and the yellows started to run.
Eventually in the final five minutes and Brian Morgan produced another one of his accurate crosses and it was met by Stuart Hunter who finally broke the deadlock to make it a relief end to the first half and send the BU in 1-0 up at the end with words being spoken between players and the ref.
Not long after the second half kicked off enough was enough for the ref as a high boot was adjust to be dangerous and a straight red to the Primrose forward reducing them to 10 men.
Midway through the half it was red number two for Crossgates and surely enough to end any hopes of a fight back.
Bo’ness were once again showing the difference against the 9 man side and pressure was beginning to come home to the home side and again.
Morgan who was causing most of the damage with his dangerous crossed was once again it was Hunter who latched onto his cross to make it two up and the dust was beginning to settled and Morgan was removed to a good applause from the BU fans to be replaced by David Gray.
As the minutes ticking down and looked to be settled for the two nil win as yet again the red was out and the third player from the home side and now down to eight players. And as usual with the BU sitting back Crossgates were being allowed to play and were becoming dangerous putting the BU keeper under pressure But as before, the game was up in the air as the home side scored again so near the end to make it an interesting end to the game and the siege on the BU goal would make you think who had three less on the park.
Entering in to added time Primrose almost equalised but for the BU keeper who deflected the ball off the cross bar and United live to fight another day as they reach round three.

Back to league next week and a visit to former West Junior side Dunipace and hopefully an improvement before going on cup duty again to East Kilbride. And it is not our former junior cup finalists who remain in the juniors.
