Football Nations Qualifying Cup 3rd Round

BO’NESS started fast trying to catch an early goal but Bonnyrigg came back into the game and levelled the playing.

The BU had a couple of personnel changes with Will Snowdon and Ryan Adamson on from the start and positions change to try and stop the home side attacks.

The BU’s had a good chance when Mark McKenzie forced the home keeper into a great save and sending it for a corner.

Bonnyrigg were now starting to take a grip of the game and force Adamson into making a great save.  Then from a free-kick Adamson had no problem getting to it first.

As the half moved on Bonnyriig were now taking control of the midfield which was leading to chances to open the scoring. United were now on the back foot and defending at full strength

Bo’ness were winning the scraps and occasionally you could see something could happen from them.

The Rose found a player heading to the book after a clash which took Fraser Keast out the game and a free-kick which caused a fright in the home box with.  Chris Donnelly had a good move and his cross was deflected by the post.

With half time approaching the opening goal was for the home side and a nice header which ended up in the net and a good first half finish for the Rose.

Into the final minutes and Donnelly almost equalised but was denied by a good save from the home keeper.

HT: Bonnyrigg Rose 1 Bo’ness United 0

Bonnyrigg came out the traps quickly and within ten minutes had doubled the lead.  A penalty was awarded and still wondering why it was awarded and Adamson could do nothing about it and the home side now doubled the lead.

Bonnyrigg Rose 2 Bo’ness United 0

Bo’ness were still trying to get back into the game and moving forward but nothing of any real chance at the home goal.

Ryan Adamson saved a great shot from outside the box and had saved the BU from being down by more than the two they already have.  The BU were getting forward in short spells but unfortunately, that was as far as it went and never troubled the keeper.

Moving in on added time a short free-kick which was almost centre of the goal beat Adamson as it flew into the corner of the BU net.  After the kick-off, it was full time and the BU must get back in the frame for the league match at Camelon this weekend.

All the best to Bonnyrigg in the next round and good luck in the Lowland League where they are second to Kelty Hearts and around nine matches remaining.
