King Cup 2nd Round
Newtown Park
BO’NESS

Forecasting that the brolly would be needed most of the support elected for undercover in the enclosure for this match.

Bo’ness as usual  opened up with some good ground play and forcing quick corners but made no difference to the Tynecastle goal.  But lack in concentration pushing forward almost cost them as the visitors broke quickly and making the BU area a hard place to protect.

Just over the twenty minute mark Chris Donnelly (in his testimonial year and probably the last match to be played on the turf at Newtown against Linlithgow Rose) earned a free kick on the edge of the box and it was Brian Morgan who stepped up but a poor ball cleared before Fraser Keast (making it back to the starting line after a lengthy time out with injury,) had the next on target shot but was easy pickings for the keeper.

On the half hour mark the BU were still running the match and a couple of good chances squandered by Keast & Donnelly.  Although having the most of the half the BU failed to take advantage as the clock ran out.

Halftime Bo’ness United 0 Tynecastle 0

The second half started as the first half had finished with the BU trying to break the deadlock and it finally came when Keast calmly found the bottom corner of the net.

Again the home side were knocking at the Tynecastle door before scorer Keast was replaced by Craig Comrie.  Ryan Stevenson put the game to bed shortly after the substitution as the young local lad on loan from Raith Rovers netted to make it 2-0

Some good foot work going on as the new look BU play on the ground and able to cut up defences and not the high ball you see at many games.  So if your a neutral fan of football this team is worth the look at.

In the final quarter of the match no sign of tiredness as the rampant BU bombarded the Tynecastle goal it was the keeper who kept the score down and the match came to an end and Bo’ness now head to Newtongrange next month for the third round.
