15th August 7pm
United open up with a surprising 5-0 against Lothian Thistle/Hutchison Vale in front of a crowd around 200.
Ross Campell bagged his first league in the new East of Scotland League set up in Conference “C”. The top 5 will be added to the top 5 from Conference “A” and “B”
Bo’ness were on the front foot and they looked more confident than the last season in the junior league. It wasn’t long before the breakthrough when Ross Campbell headed a sweet set piece corner which flew into the LTHV goal.
It wasn’t long before the net was bulging again when a breakaway saw Marty Wright put it away. This looked to soften the visitors play as they looked to be to far up when the breakout happened. The LTHV goal was peppered and it wouldn’t have been a surprise if the BU went in 4-0 at the break.
The visitors did have a half chance near half time which came to nothing.
It didn’t take long before the ball was in the net again and it was Campbell again who must have thought it was his birthday when scored his second and the BU third.
From a corner Campbell was again the hitman as he bagged his third and second hattrick in a week as the visiting defence couldn’t defend set pieces. When you take it he is a defender and manages to get up front now and again.
Chris Donnelly was replaced by John McDonald and Stuart Hunter made way Aldin El-Zubadi as the game was almost won take off the regulars and sent on substitutes to harass the visiting defence. Zubadi just on scored from another set piece to make it five.
The BU will be very pleased with this result and are back on cup roaster this weekend against Crossgates Primrose at Newtown.
