East of Scotland Conference “B” League
Kick Off 2.30pm
A different atmosphere today as no wind to spoil the match although we did well last week
Bo’ness United welcomed Eyemouth United team to Newtown Park and as the league position shows that Eyemouth have never gained a point in the “B” Conference League. But under the directorship of Max Christie looking for a second win in his short time here.
As the east coasters parked the bus from the first whistle. But the pressure was off when Ross Campbell towered above the defence to nod the BU in front on the 15 minute mark .Bo’ness 1 Eyemouth 0
While still writing down the first goal when one became two as Chris Donnelly opened his account with a nice shot into the bottom corner and it looked like it could be a bad day for Eyemouth. Bo’ness 2 Eyemouth 0
The BU were running the show here and two became three when just over the half hour, the debate started as to who scored was it Ryan Stevenson or Nicky Prentice who notched the goal Bo’ness 3 Eyemouth 0
Ten minutes from the break Bo’ness again failed to clear the lines and the visitors managed to open the score for them when a long throw deceived the home side but the visitors were now back in the match Bo’ness 3 Eyemouth 1
Before our visitors had any time to settle back the BU had the ball in the net for four from Marty Wright Bo’ness 4 Eyemouth 1
But they were not finished as they netted again on half time from Donnelly and his second of the match standing clear in front of goal for a tap in.
HT: Bo’ness 5 Eyemouth 1
Bo’ness thought they had scored a real early second half goal but as Wright put it away the assistant referee called it offside.
It wasn’t long though and the wonder kid Donnelly who has played every position on the park in his ten year reign rattled in his hattrick as he climbed high above the defence to head in number six and the heads were really down by this. Bo’ness 6 Eyemouth 1
Ryan Stevenson hit number seven after finding himself in a good position in the box with nobody marking him it easy pickings for the Bo’ness born youngster. Bo’ness 7 Eyemouth 1
Ross Campbell, just like his first beating the defence to head the ball as the home side were capitalising with the cross balls and using the full width of the park to frustrate the visitors Bo’ness 8 Eyemouth 1
Almost from the kick off the BU were on the front foot again Stevenson knocked it in for his second Bo’ness 9 Eyemouth 1
Trying to keep up with play which is usually easy to follow the match a breath of fresh air as Bo’ness sending on two subs.
Shortly after the substitution Nicky Prentice was on target to open his account for ten, as he kept the ball on the deck to score a nice goal. As the earlier strike was attached to young Ryan Stevenson. Bo’ness 10 Eyemouth 1
Stevenson was back on target after as the air raid was punishing the visitors at every chance as he hit a nice hat trick.
Bo’ness 11 Eyemouth 1
As the BU came forward again Brian Morgan was on target hitting it low and the keeper couldn’t get down quick enough. to make it Bo’ness 12 Eyemouth 1
Straight from the restart Bo’ness gained possession and this time it was Devon Jacobs on target and again it was low and the unlucky number 13. Jacobs was knocking the cobweb of the 13 as he spun his own web with number 14.
Nicky Prentice rounded off the day with a bullet leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.
FT Bo’ness 15 Eyemouth 1
United kept pushing forward and never looked like sitting back as the goal hungry side wanted more action. As the final whistle sounded plenty smiles in the home camp no question asked as this was expected by some, it still has to happen and the bus might have kept the score down but they came and faced a juggernaut that kept on going for 90 minutes and Bo’ness head to Haddington next week in another league match and won’t get the same chances as this has been a dangerous place to travel for the BU in time gone by..
