BO’NESS UNITED 1 DUNDONALD BLUEBELL 0
It took twenty two minutes for this match to open up when a perfect cross from Graeme MacGregor and it was nicely planted in the net by Fraser Keast who met it nicely and a headed goal.
Bo’ness 1 Dundonald 0
The BU defence were in action after the goal as the Fifers tried to bounce back but Andy Murphy was off his line to gather the ball in.
Brian Morgan then pulls a great ball in the path of Ryan Stevenson who cut the ball back to Keast but the ball sailed over his head. Tom Grant was next to have a go but the rising wind now causing havoc was cleared by the Bluebell keeper.
Ian Nimmo and Stevenson both had good chances to extend the BU lead but they had to settle for a one-goal lead and a clean sheet playing into the wind.
Half time Bo’ness United 1 Dundonald 0
The second period started like the first with both sides eyeing each other up and with the strong wind it was proving difficult for Bo’ness to keep the ball down and the better balls were being played by Dundonald.
United were starting to open up guiding the ball through the wind but the finishing could have been better. The chances were coming for the BU but that final touch was wind controlled.
Substitute Chris Donnelly had a good effort but the keeper pulled off a good save.
Goalscorer Keast made way for Brian Ritchie with just under fifteen minutes remaining and was soon in the action when another BU cross was judged to be handball and a penalty awarded and time for the home side to seal all three points. Morgan was awarded the duty of the spot-kick and wind-assisted managed to nearly hit the space station as his shot flew over the bar. Donnelly was next with an over bar effort which would have been three points at Murrayfield.
Soon after the ref had decided enough was enough and with the wind getting stronger blew for full time and another good three points to keep the gap up to Hill of Beath.
