League matchday 5

Bo’ness were going into this match big odds on and expecting to keep up their 100% start to the season.

With a good attendance watching online the BU gave a great start when Tom Grant popped up with the opener after only three minutes. Bo’ness did the usual went to sleep and almost conceded the equaliser.  They gradually started to have the lions share of the ball and some chances going a-begging.

Midway through the first period, all broke out when a tackle around the centre of the field Devon Jacobs received a straight red and reducing the home side to ten men.

Not long after the half hour mark, Max Christie made his first change bringing on Stuart McFarlane for Craig Meikle.

With almost five minutes of the half time whistle the BU’s and the army of online support watching on the Strollers equalised through Ross Guthrie and minutes later the half time whistle went. And the argument over the sending off was still simmering away.

Christie made his second change at the break bringing on Capt Chris Donnelly for Brian Ritchie as they would go in with a fresh pair of legs in search of another goal. Just over ten minutes on the park and Donnelly found his name in the ref’s book.
The visitors were holding their own against the BU as they hit the bar, Soon after the ball was in the BU net but the assistant saved the home defence when the flag was raised.
The final home change came just after the hour mark when Kyle Bell replaced Tom Grant in a like for like position.
As the action progressed both sides had chances on goal with Adamson in the BU goal having a good safe. Late on it was Zander Miller who had a rather quiet game and only the keeper in his way muffed his shot that went wide.

In the end, the BU’s 100% record had now gone. Also joining the BU on the dropped points were Bonnyrigg Rose. East Kilbride were up against East Kilbride which saw all lose the 100% record.  BSC Glasgow regained ground as they won 4-0 at home to Cumbernauld Colts.
Bo’ness will take the long road to Dumfries at the weekend to play Dalbeattie Star.
