BU starting 11 : Gk : Clarke Defence : Devine Hunter Campbell Snowdon Midfield/Attack Ruari MacLennan Sloan Philip Simpson Keast Wright
BU got off to a flying start dominating possession with the only threat from Kelty being a string of corners back to back. BU dealt with these easily and were soon on the attack one of which ended in a foul and the match referee pointed to the spot. Usual penalty taker Will Snowdon stepped up only to see his effort saved by the Kelty keeper.
This didn’t however dampen the Bo’ness spirits and kept pushing forward dominating possession and chances. The referee spoke to a few players for fouls early on but then continued and after a booking for Kelty a silly one followed for BU left back Stewart Devine when out of frustration he kicked the ball away.
A yellow soon followed for Snowdon for a tackle which looked more frustration than anything else. The half continued and BU continued to push forward but there was just no cutting edge to put the ball in the net. At half time it was 0-0
Into the 2nd half and Kelty straight away sunk the BU hearts as they took a chance and put the ball away to lead 1-0. A sub was made when Marty Wright went off to be replaced by Fraser Eddington andthe BU possession continued. However, Soon after a free kick from outside the box was exquisitely put away curled into the corner and BU were 2-0 down.
Although being behind didn’t seem to keep BU back as they continued to push and press the well organised Kelty defence with attacking throw ins corners and balls over the box.
Eventually a goal came when again Kelty fouled in the box. This time Robert Sloan stepped up and made no mistake dispatching the ball into the net. Spurred on by the goal BU continued to push and a golden opportunity was spurned when Hunter got on the end of a cross with a free header from a few yards on only for it to go over the bar.
The game came to an end with BU again on the front foot but no more goals meant a full time result of BU 1 – 2 Kelty All in all it has to be said BU have played worse and won and overall it was a very good team display just unfortunate that the result went against us today. Next up for the BU is another league game this time away from home to Penicuik next Saturday
