Bo地ess
United scored their
second victory in two
weeks as they came back
from behind to defeat
Whitburn Juniors to
secure three more vital
Super League points.
Whitburn
had a dream start going
ahead in four minutes
after a Colin Strickland
free kick hit the
Bo地ess bar, Andy
Roberts miss hit the
rebound only for it to
be deflected to Alan
Flanagan who forced
the ball in from close
in.
The
visitors had the best of
the play for the first
half but they were
unable to capitalise and
would have been
disappointed not to have
scored more goals.
Bo地ess did get forward
on occasions but lacked
the cutting edge in
front of goal.
The
second half was a wholly
different affair as it
was Bo地ess痴 turn to
dominate but they were
unable to turn
possession into goals.
Indeed Alan Flanagan
came close to doubling
his side痴 lead but his
low shot just cleared
the Bo地ess post and it
was sighs of relief all
round.
However
Bo地ess were playing
well and eventually
scored in 71 minutes as
Whitburn failed to clear
a Jon Mitchell corner.
Kevin Donnelly痴 header
was cleared off the line
with another shot coming
off the crossbar before
Kevin Mullen
prodded the ball into
the net.
Bo地ess
had got back from being
a goal down for the
first time this season
but they took it even
further when they took
the lead in 81 minutes.
From a throw in Scott
Mauchline cut inside
from the left and his
angled drive streaked
past Scott Cantley into
the Whitburn goal.
Four
minutes later the points
were made safe as a good
Bo地ess move was
completed with
Stewart Kenny
dinking the ball over
Cantley for Bo地ess痴
third goal.
Bo地ess finished off
2006 on a high note and
hopefully 2007 will
continue in the same
vein as they try to
ensure Super League
safety.
