+ Match Report (By John Spowart)

Mascot for the day Ben Alexander led Bo地ess United onto the park and an interested spectator was George O達oyle who had just signed for Carnoustie and the former BU favourite will also be the number two for the Laing Park side.

There were two new faces in the Bo地ess side in the form of goalkeeper Jon Connelly signed from Larkhall and forward Scott Gallacher signed from Fauldhouse.

The game was a classic six pointer and a single goal was enough to see Carnoustie leap frog Bo地ess leaving the BUs with a lot to do to climb away from the bottom of the East Region Super League.

The game was a largely scrappy affair with neither side imposing themselves and the first half particularly saw little in the way of goal scoring chances. The second half opened up a bit and Stuart McKay saw a long range shot saved by Michael Whyte. New BU keeper Jon Connelly made a good save from a James Russell effort but it was at the other end where Bo地ess came close to scoring with a Stewart Kenny effort rattling the crossbar.

As the games progressed it looked as if one goal might be enough to settle it but unfortunately for Bo地ess it was the visitors who got that goal. Ralph Brand replaced James Russell in 70 minutes and only a minute later he put Carnoustie ahead with a low shot that beat Connelly at his right hand post.

The closest Bo地ess came to scoring was when Gary Ogilvie headed onto his own post but they could not score and it is going to be a tough struggle over the coming months.
