Bo地ess
United finally got off
the mark as they won a
great derby victory
against near neighbours
Linlithgow Rose.
After the
disappointments of the
last few weeks, the BUs
put in a tremendous
effort and thoroughly
deserved the win that
lifts them off the
bottom of the East
Region Super League.
The Rose
made a bright start to
the game but Bo地ess
worked themselves into
the game and went ahead
in 29 minutes as a Kevin
Donnelly header was
cleared off the goal
line but Paul
Mortimer reacted to
hit the ball into the
net from close in.
Five
minutes before half time
Bo地ess extended their
lead when Scott Brown
laid the ball back to
his brother and Gary
Brown hit a low shot
that beat Pinkowski at
his right hand post.
In the
early part of the second
half the Rose pinned
Bo地ess back but the BU
defence was resolute
though in 59 minutes it
took a block from Paul
Russell followed by a
Stuart McKay clearance
off the line to keep the
goal intact.
A goal
for Linlithgow at this
point might have made
all the difference to
the match but in 63
minutes it was Bo地ess
who scored when
Linlithgow痴 Kevin
Donnelly tried to clear
his lines but he only
succeeded in cannoning
the ball off Stuart
McKay and into the
net.
Three
minutes later Linlithgow
got a goal back as
Gordon Herd nipped
in at the near post to
touch the ball in to
give the Rose some hope.
In 80 Minutes Rose
substitute Colin Allison
was only inches away
from connecting at the
far post but again the
Rose were to regret the
missed chance, as
Bo地ess scored a fourth
in 83 minutes. A good BU
move finished with
Stuart McKay working
inside and his shot from
twenty five yards
deflected up off Keith
Hogg, looping over the
helpless Steven
Pinkowski and into the
net.
Last season痴 victory
against the Rose
signalled a dip in
Bo地ess痴 form after a
good start so perhaps
this victory will signal
a revival for the BUs
after their worst start
in thirty years.
