+ Match Report (By John Spowart)

Camelon scored their third victory of the season against Bo地ess with a narrow victory that leaves the BU's struggling at this early stage in the League.

Camelon started well and went ahead in 11 minutes as Stuart Hunter headed in at the far post from a Martin Mooney corner. Camelon were looking the better side and Bo地ess struggled going forward with Ronnie McPherson痴 goal seldom under any real threat.

However Bo地ess did get level in 37 minutes when Willie Irvine crossed from the bye line and Stuart Hunter sliced the ball into his own net at the near post. With half time approaching Brian Bell did well to pressure Scott Brown as he rushed in on the Camelon goal and it was all square at the break.

Bo地ess made a good start to the second half and Stuart Hunter did well to head clear from a Willie Irvine cross. In 55 minutes Bo地ess looked to have scored when a Lee Docherty header seemed to be net bound but Ronnie McPherson pulled off a fantastic save to keep the ball out. This proved to be a turning point as only a minute later, Camelon regained the lead when Martin Mooney sent over a cross from the left and Barry Thompson diverted the ball past Aaron Stalker at the near post.

Barry Thompson looked good for his second goal as he charged down on the Bo地ess goal but Gordon Russell did well to pressurise the player whose shot went over the bar. Bo地ess had a couple of penalty claims turned down but in the end it was a fourth defeat in six games.

The next two weeks see Bo地ess go to Lochee before Bathgate come calling and the pressure is on to get some points on the board to avoid becoming stranded at the wrong end of the table.

There was a minutes silence prior today痴 game in memory of Jimmy Harrower who died earlier in the week.

Jimmy was centre forward for Bo地ess in season 1954/55 before he moved on to play with Hibs and Liverpool. Jimmy was part of a successful forward line that included Alex Scott who went on to make his name with Rangers and Scotland. Jimmy was a strong bustling forward who is fondly remembered as one of the best players ever to don the blue shirt of Bo地ess United.
