+ Match Report (By John Spowart)

The BUs are into to the next round of the Dechmont Forklift Cup and they have goal keeper Robert Burns to thank for the victory.

Both teams struggled in the wind, rain and mud at Newtown Park but it was Burns who made the decisive saves that kept Bo’ness in the tie. In 20 minutes John Millar made a great pass to put Peter Keenan through but Big Rab got down to save at the forward’s feet. With fifteen minutes remaining Scott Mauchline saw his shot saved by Dalkeith keeper Kevin Kesson but the play quickly moved to the other end where John Millar’s curling shot looked goal bound until Burns got across to make a great save. It was not yet over as Barry Anderson followed up but the Bo’ness keeper got down to block and his goal remained intact.

Stephen Payne curled a free kick shot onto the top of the Dalkeith bar but there were no goals and the penalty kick shootout saw every kick converted until Brian Anderson missed for Dalkeith with Scott Brown netting to put Bo’ness through.
