This was
not a great game and
Bo地ess did not play
particularly well but
the most important thing
was the fact that the
BUs got the victory that
keeps the prospect of
promotion alive, and
with Forfar West End
also losing it has been
a good weekend for the
Newtown Park side.
It was
another week where the
wind spoiled the game
and in the first half
Bo地ess were largely
pegged back as they
played into the teeth of
the gale. However North
End were unable to take
advantage though it took
a brilliant double save
by Robert Burns defying
David Evans and Allan
Ramsay in quick
succession to keep the
goal intact.
Bo地ess
were forced into making
a change when Kevin
Donnelly had to come off
with an injury and the
BUs could only manage
the occasional foray up
the park. Only a corner
just before the break
caused a bit of panic in
the North End goalmouth
but the danger was
cleared.
In the
second half it was
Bo地ess痴 turn to push
forward but they were
unable to make the break
though and Dundee North
End worked themselves
back into the game and
looked dangerous when
they got forward. One of
the best moves of the
match saw the ball
played to Ritchie
Henderson wide on the
left and when the cross
went over Evans just
cleared the bar with a
volley in front of the
goal.
However
with just over fifteen
minutes remaining
Scott Brown came on
to replace Paul Tweedie
and six minutes later he
headed Bo地ess into the
lead getting onto a
Stephen Payne cross at
the near post.
This was
a hammer blow for Dundee
North End who were
unable to respond and
just before the end
Bo地ess might have
scored again when Scott
Brown got through on
goal but his shot went
wide of the target.
A great
day for Bo地ess but with
some difficult games yet
to come no one is taking
anything for granted.
