IN MEMORY OF PEBBLES

  Report (By John Spowart)

A presentation with a difference was made at the end of today’s match against Dufftown as Stephen Payne was presented with a bottle of whisky as man of the match nominated by Mick Hyde in memory of Pebbles Hyde.

Mick reports on Junior games around the country for the Sunday Mail but his visit to Bo’ness today was mainly concerning his greyhound dog Pebbles. Pebbles was born in Bo’ness and after her racing career was over, Mike and his wife Connie adopted the greyhound. However recently Pebbles died and Mike, Connie and newly adopted Bam Bam made the vigil to Bo’ness to scatter Pebble’s ashes in the Bo’ness dock.

Mick had previously brought Pebbles back to Bo’ness and the former racing dog had enjoyed running along the foreshore and it just seemed appropriate to Mick that Pebbles’ final resting place be in this very area.

With Mick’s love of the Junior game he decided to commemorate the occasion by making today’s presentation and he decided Stephen Payne was worthy of the prize. The photograph shows Stephen with his presentation accompanied by Mick’s wife Connie and of course Bam Bam.

At the back end of last season Mick contacted the website with regards how to sponsor a match but wouldn't give any particular details as he said it was a family thing he wanted to do.

Now I know exactly what Mick had in mind and hope you had a nice day with John & Carol.
