Bo’ness
United put in another
below par display as
they drew with Armadale
Thistle in the second
match of this season’s
League Cup campaign.
Scott
Brown returned from his
honeymoon to take his
position in the front
line but Paul Tweedie
was missing after being
hurt in training.
The BU's
made a great start going
ahead in 41 seconds when
Mauchline found Payne
with a good pass and the
perfect finish saw a
twenty five yard curling
shot beat Armadale
keeper Black low at the
far post.
It was
hoped this might be the
start of something good
but the game developed
into a scrappy affair
though Armadale
equalised in 31 minutes
with a fine move.
Brookfield got onto the
end of a Dick free kick
from deep and his header
was just right for
Crawford to hit a
first time low shot, the
ball zipping past
Stalker into the bottom
corner of the net.
Armadale
finished the half
strongly but at the
beginning of the second
period it was Bo’ness
who looked the more
positive side. The BU's
had most of the
possession creating the
better chances but Black
in the Armadale goal was
not really tested
dealing with everything
that come his way.
Mauchline was closest
for Bo’ness with a shot
that just missed the far
post though Armadale had
a couple of near things
particularly Murphy’s
header that Tully did
well to clear for a
corner.
Just before the end
Bo’ness pushed for the
winner but without
success and they will be
hoping for better things
on Saturday when
Bathgate come calling. |
