Bo’ness
made a disappointing
start to the season
going down to Camelon
Juniors in the first
game of the League Cup
section.
There
were a couple of new
faces in the line up
with Friday signings
Ryan McCafferty and Paul
Tweedie. However it was
the home side who made
all the early running
and keeper Robert Burns
marked his first game of
the season with a series
of good saves that kept
Bo’ness in the contest.
However
he was finally beaten in
31 minutes when Shirra
slipped a pass through
to Lister who
slotted the ball past
Burns at the near post.
Burns was again active
and was again proving a
difficult obstacle for
the Camelon forwards who
were unable to take
advantage of their
superior possession.
Bo’ness did better in
the second half but to
be honest they never
looked like causing an
upset though the work
rate did not falter. As
the game drew to a close
both teams were looking
tired and in the end
Camelon were happy to
hear the final whistle
but they will be
concerned they were not
able to put the game
beyond Bo’ness much
earlier in the match.
