It was honours even in this stuffy derby match where Bo’ness United recovered from an early setback only to concede in the final fifteen minutes.
Linlithgow scored after only 6 minutes when Roddy MacLennan cut in from the left before running into the box and shooting low into the net. The Rose dominated Bo’ness after the goal but the BU defence kept them at bay and gradually got themselves back into the game.
Bo’ness were rewarded with a goal after 38 minutes when Nicky Walker put over a great cross and Chris Donnelly side footed home at the back post. Just before the break the comeback was complete when Bo’ness scored again. Nicky Walker’s corner was cleared only as far as the edge of the box where Lee Duffy controlled before firing a great shot into the top corner of the net.
In the second half Bo’ness were the better side for a while but Linlithgow got back into things and scored an equaliser in 76 minutes. Tommy Coyne did well on the right before firing the ball over for Roddy MacLennan to divert into the net via Will Snowdon.
Despite chances at either end no one was able to finish and both sides had to be happy with the draw. This report has been submitted to the website of Bo'ness United Football Club and is the property of the above website.
