Bo’ness United won a significant victory against current Super League leaders Bonnyrigg Rose to take all the points in a tense match at Newtown Park.

Bo’ness enjoyed most of the first half possession but were unable to make the final touch count. However in 33 minutes Lee Duffy brought out a great save from Mark Weir but the ball broke to Ian Nimmo who rifled a low shot into the opposite corner of the net. Four minutes later Bo’ness doubled their lead after Chris Gray tripped Nicky Walker in the Bonnyrigg box and Ian Nimmo fired home from the spot.

Five minutes into the second half, with possibly his first touch for his new club, Steven Bonar converted a low cross from Chris Donnelly from close in.

Bonnyrigg pulled a goal back in 54 minutes when Ross Archibald finished off a quick break move by his side. Both sides created chances but with eight minutes later Bonnyrigg reduced the Bo’ness lead even further. Another quick move from Bonnyrigg finished with David Burrell hitting a great side foot shot past Scott Christie from the edge of the box.

Chris Donnelly saw his shot deflected over the Bonnyrigg bar while Sean Grady fired over for Bonnyrigg. However there were no more goals and this was a great win for the BUs
