Bo’ness United were disappointing as they lost out to a hungry, determined Camelon Juniors at Carmuirs Park.
Prior to the match Bo’ness had to make a change as Stephen Tarditi pulled up in the warm up and John Stewart was promoted from the bench. In two minutes Bo’ness went ahead after Will Snowdon found Nicky Walker down the right and, from his low cross, John Stewart slotted past Camelon keeper Myles Hogarth from six yards.
The goal rattled Camelon who came close to losing another after Scott Gibb missed Graeme McLaren’s cross by a whisker in front of the goal.
Camelon settled and they equalised after 21 minutes when a long ball from Andrew McGowan landed nicely for Steven Knox who volleyed in twelve yards from goal. It was the home side who were now on top although Bo’ness had a shout for a penalty as Ian Nimmo went down in the box from a Steve Graham challenge. Neither the referee or his assistant were interested in the claims and two minutes before the break it was Camelon who came close when Scott Christie tipped a Blair Batchelor free kick shot over the bar. However two minutes into the second half Camelon did get themselves in front. Bo’ness gave the ball away and Craig Young benefitted charging down the left before whipping a low ball across the goal, and the incoming Steven Knox fired in from close in.
In 60 minutes it was Camelon’s turn to shout for a penalty as the ball hit Graeme McLaren’s hand in the box, and, as the referee waved play on Scott Christie blocked an angled shot from Craig Young.
Scott Christie came to Bo’ness’s rescue again a minute later, this time with a two saves in quick succession. First he got down to block Craig Young’s low shot before turning Blair Batchelor’s effort round his post.
Bo’ness had look to be out of it for most of the second half although a late rally had the Camelon defence under some pressure. However three minutes into time added on Camelon sealed their win after a Bo’ness foul throw gave away possession. The ball came back into the Bo’ness half and Gary Brass muscled past the BU defence before passing to David Donaldson who shot home from eight yards.
