Bo'ness United scored a narrow win against new side Falkirk Juniors in a high scoring League Cup match at Newtown Park.

Starting well, Bo'ness were two goals up after only twelve minutes. The first came in 9 minutes as a low drive by Ian Nimmo was deflected into the Falkirk net. Falkirk almost equalised straight away but BU keeper Scott Christie made a terrific save, turning a Mark Pagliarulo shot round his post. However it was Bo'ness who scored again, John Stewart letting a low ball from Nathan Taggart pass him and from eight yards Ian Nimmo hit a first time shot low past Ronnie MacPherson.

It looked like it was going to be easy for Bo'ness but two goals in a minute brought Falkirk back into the game. In 15 minutes Mark Pagliarulo looked offside as he got onto the end of a Karl Lejman pass but he didn't hesitate, driving an angled shot into the opposite corner of the net. It was then all square when Bo'ness failed to deal with a low ball into the goal and this time Mark Pagliarulo shot under Scott Christie from close in.

Bo'ness reacted positively and regained the lead after thirty minutes, Scott Gibb latching onto a ball into the box by Chris Donnelly to fire in from twelve yards.

Ten minutes into the second half Falkirk got back again with a goal that exposed the Bo'ness defence. Ronnie MacPherson caught a Nathan Taggart corner before launching a kick up the field. It was Mark Pagliarulo who latched onto the ball,  outstripping the BU defenders before slipping a shot under the advancing Scott Christie.

For the rest of the game Bo'ness had most of the play but struggled to break down the Falkirk defence. However with four minutes remaining the BUs finally got the winner. Ronnie MacPherson got down to make a fabulous save, keeping out a low shot from Ian Nimmo but the danger was not cleared and Kevin Watt fired through a crowd of players, the ball finding the back of the net.

Despite the win, Bo'ness will be concerned to get an all round better performance as the Super League season gets ever closer.
