Bo’ness United had a good workout as they earned a draw in their second preseason game at Largs Thistle. As at Civil Service Strollers new Coach Paul Ronald gave all the players a run out on a hot Barrfields.
After 10 minutes a low cross by Nicky Walker was cleared for a corner and the ball Graeme McLaren put over hit the inside of the Largs back post but was cleared. Three minutes later Largs went ahead when Willie McClure gathered, turned Will Snowdon before slotting a low shot passed Scott Christie.
From a Hunter throw Walker got a touch but Largs keeper Neil Greenwood got down to hold but in 21 minutes Bo’ness got the ball in the net. The Trialist headed in from a Nicky Walker cross but the assistant’s flag indicated offside.
It looked a tight decision and although both sides created chances there were no more goals before the break.
Bo’ness shot out he blocks at the start of the second half and a Nicky Walker shot was just wide of the far post. Indeed the visitors enjoyed a good spell where they created chances but could not get the accurate final touch. Nicky Walker had been prominent with some good runs and with fifteen minutes remaining another surge was halted by a push from Sean Jamieson in the Largs box. A penalty was the decision and Graeme McLaren put the ball away from the spot.
That was the end of the scoring although a few minutes from the end Andrew Monaghan went close for Largs.
