You have done a smashing job on the website and it is obviously proving
popular. You asked about any special memories. Well I have many - I was very
fortunate to be involved in 3 Scottish Cup finals. We won two and lost one,
I suppose the victory in 1976 was special for a lot of people. The final
against Darvel (3-0) was not a great game but the run up to it produced some
excitement to say the least. The games that stick out are the Arthurlie
(away), Cumnock (away) and the semi-final at Brockville against Lanark.
Arthurlie (away) - we were fortunate to get a draw after our goalkeeper had
to be replaced by Ian Millar and we had a man sent off, but we held out and
the Quarter final - Cumnock (away) a huge crowd watched this one and the
bookmakers were giving 9-2 against Bo' ness to win it but we ended up well
worth our 3-1 win. I remember the home crowd leaving the ground after we
scored the third goal in the second half. Semi-final - Lanark - Brockville
was a sell out and the game was delayed for 20 minutes to let the crowd in.
We won 5-0 that night. No wander with that crowd behind us.
(A cartoon in the Falkirk Herald pictured two Falkirk supporters on the
terracing with one of them saying "it's good to get back to the peace and
quite of a Falkirk home game".
Then there was the home coming after the final. Great times!
I have many fond memories of my time at Bo' ness and it is the first junior
score I look for in the paper.
Pass on my regards to all at the club.
Keep up the good work!
